| Firstly, make sure that you interview several investment professionals (IPs), not just one. You need to be able to compare and contrast, so that you have choices. Ask your friends or co-workers for referrals of IPs that they use (and like). Feel comfortable that your IP is compatible with you and your goals. Most importantly, find a teacher. Find an IP that you feel is guiding you, and teaching you about your investments, your goals and his process of investing. You should feel like you can ask any question and not be made to feel like you are wasting their time. You should walk away from every meeting with them, feeling that you are wiser and more informed about your investments. Find a teacher, not a salesperson! |
